Co Antrim man drives his 1969 tractor 506 miles round NI to raise funds for Air Ambulance

Updated: Aug 9, 2022

Sammy Gault, a vintage tractor enthusiast, has just returned home after driving his 1969 Zetor 4011 tractor around the perimeter of Northern Ireland, all in a bid to raise funds for Air Ambulance NI.

The Ballymoney man set off on his fundraising adventure on Thursday morning (4 August) at 10am from Portballintrae, and arrived home, 506 miles later, at 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

To date Sammy has managed to raise a brilliant £2,237 via his Facebook fundraising page, which is still open for donations.

Speaking to Love Ballymena, Sammy said:

“I got the inspiration for my fundraiser from doing local charity tractor runs, and I think that the Air Ambulance is a great charity.

“I reckoned my love for tractors and undertaking a route driving around the perimeter of Northern Ireland would be a good way to raise money for a fantastic cause.”

Sammy continued:

“I'm so glad that I did it and I enjoyed every bit of it. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of support I got and would definitely do it again!”

Donations are still being accepted on Sammy’s fundraising page!
