Co Antrim man arrested in connection with online posts linked to disorder

A 32-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating online activity allegedly related to recent incidents of public disorder, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).


The arrest took place in the Larne area as part of a wider investigation into posts made on social media and other online platforms. The man was detained on suspicion of encouraging or assisting offences and possession of a class B controlled substance.



He remains in police custody at this time.


During a search of a residential property in Larne, officers seized a number of items, including electronic devices and a small quantity of a class B controlled drug.



A spokesperson for the PSNI confirmed:


Detectives investigating online posts relating to recent public disorder have arrested a 32-year-old man in the Larne area.”


The police added:


“Officers seized a number of items including electronic devices and a small quantity of a class B controlled drug, during a search of a house in Larne.”



The investigation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle the use of digital platforms in encouraging unrest or criminal behaviour across Northern Ireland.
