The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has presented Garvagh Clydesdale and Vintage Vehicle Club with a special civic gift in recognition of its Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The club received the prestigious honour for its efforts in the local community spanning over the past 25 years.
Alderman Mark Fielding said:
“The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the pinnacle of recognition, reserved for exemplary voluntary groups in recognition of their initiative and community impact.
“As Mayor of the Borough I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to all those associated with the club who are committed to preserving important aspects of our rural heritage while making a significant contribution to many good causes through their fundraising.”
Club Chairperson Nevin Smith said:
“Garvagh Clydesdale & Vintage Vehicle Club is delighted to accept this presentation from the Mayor and Mayoress. The club has been preserving history through vintage vehicles, machinery, Clydesdales and farming methods for many years now, while raising much-need funds for local medical charities in the process.
“We have never considered what we do worthy of awards or recognition, because we do it out of passion, but we are extremely humbled by yet another award in acknowledgment of our work and we are extremely grateful to the Mayor for this.”
