Child remains critical as detectives investigate death of man at Co Tyrone home

A child remains in a critical condition in hospital as detectives continue to investigate the death of a man at a home in Dungannon.

Police have now confirmed that a woman was also found injured inside the property on Lisnahull Road on Saturday morning. She sustained non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital.

A male arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder remains in police custody.

Man found dead inside Lisnahull Road home

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which was reported at around 11am on Saturday 29 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Robinson said:

“The body of a man was discovered inside a home on the Lisnahull Road at around 11am yesterday, Saturday 29th August. A seriously injured child and a woman who had sustained non-life threatening injuries were also present in the home.

“The child remains in a critical condition at this time while the woman has been released from hospital.

“The cause of the man’s death has not yet been formally established and post-mortem examinations will take place in due course.

“A male, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, remains in custody.”

Police urge public to avoid speculation

The PSNI has not released further details about the identities of those involved or the circumstances surrounding what happened.

DCI Robinson urged people not to speculate while detectives continue their enquiries.

He said:

“As such, it would be inappropriate to comment further and I would ask that the public avoid speculation until we can provide further updates.

“However, I want to reassure the public that we do not believe that there is any ongoing risk, and at this stage we are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death.

“Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those involved.”

Detectives appeal for information and footage

Police are asking anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to contact detectives.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference 564 of 29/08/26.

Relevant photographs or footage, including CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage, can be submitted directly to detectives through the Major Incident Public Portal.

The investigation remains ongoing, with post-mortem examinations expected to help formally establish the cause of the man’s death. The child remains critically ill, while police have sought to reassure the community that they do not believe there is any ongoing risk and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
