Police increasing patrols at Larne Port & other locations in response to staff security fears
Police in Northern Ireland say they are increasing patrols at Larne Port and other locations, as authorities stop physical checks on goods crossing Irish Sea border due to serious concerns for the security of staff.
Responding to comments regarding Larne Port Staff, Assistant Chief Constable Mark McEwan said:
“We are meeting with our partner agencies tomorrow, Tuesday 2 February, to discuss this matter. The safety of staff working at points of entry is of the utmost importance to us. Where we have any credible information we will share that with our partners and take appropriate action.
“We have increased patrols at Larne Port and other points of entry in order to reassure staff and the local community.”
