The Osborne family from Ballymoney led the charge in a car competition in aid of the charity that is closest to their heart – Air Ambulance NI. Following 6 weeks of sales, a live draw took place at CM Competitions NI Ltd and the winner, Colleen McGrath from Newbridge was announced the winner.
Colleen had bought three tickets just the day before the competition ended and said:
“The only other thing I have ever won was a meat hamper and I am vegetarian! I am so surprised and pleased. I have been aware of the Air Ambulance NI charity for some time and you never know when you might need it, so I was glad to support.”
The Osborne family have dedicated much of their free time to fundraising for Air Ambulance NI after their son Simon needed its services following a serious road traffic collision in January 2019. Thankfully Simon has made a remarkable recovery and is doing well.
The competition resulted in 2,000 ticket sales which were available at £15 each and the funds raised will benefit the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for Northern Ireland. The competition raised an incredible overall total of £35,610.90 through ticket sales and donations from local businesses and supporters.
Kerry Anderson, Head of Fundraising for Air Ambulance NI said:
“We are very grateful and owe massive thanks to the Osborne family, CM Competitions NI Ltd, the 80 sponsors involved as well as everyone who bought tickets and helped spread the word. It has been a fantastic initiative and the funds raised will cover costs of helicopter operations including fuel, rental, insurance, and flight suits; ultimately enabling our team to help save lives, brains and limbs.”
