A very special event has taken place in honour of long-serving nurse Margaret McKinnell.

Known as Marjorie, she has devoted her life to the profession in a career spanning almost six decades.

Retiring from the role after 59 years, she hasn’t stepped away completely but instead, continues to work as a healthcare assistant at Whiteabbey Hospital.

Befitting of her exemplary service, Margaret recently received a letter of commendation from Maria Mcllgorm, Chief Nursing Officer in Northern Ireland.

Friends, colleagues and family members joined the celebrations to thank her for her enduring commitment to caring for those in need.
