Boy, 11, in critical condition after Shankill Road collision as police appeal for witnesses

An 11-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital after a serious road traffic collision on Belfast’s Shankill Road on Saturday evening.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident, which involved a grey BMW X5 and the young pedestrian.
The collision happened close to the junction with Boundary Street at approximately 7.25pm on Saturday, 7 March.
Emergency services attended the scene and the boy was taken to hospital for treatment. Police have confirmed that he remains in a critical condition.
A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene following the collision. He has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
The Shankill Road was closed for a number of hours while emergency services and investigators dealt with the aftermath of the collision. The road has since reopened.
Police say their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing and are asking anyone who may have information to come forward.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have captured dashcam or mobile phone footage in the area around the time of the incident.
