Police have confirmed that the body of a woman has been located in the Princes Street area of Lurgan.
In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon, police said the discovery was made on Saturday, 7 February.
Whilst formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Caitlin Green, who has been missing since Saturday afternoon, 31 January, has been informed.
Caitlin, aged 24, had last been seen leaving a friend’s home in the Derry Street and Lord Lurgan Park area of Lurgan, prompting extensive police searches and repeated public appeals for information over the past week.
Community Rescue Service
The Community Rescue Service (CRS), which had been assisting police in the search operation, confirmed its involvement earlier on Saturday and expressed condolences following the discovery.
In a statement, the organisation said:
“CRS volunteers were deployed today to the Lurgan area in a joint PSNI and CRS planned search operation.
“We regret to inform you that this afternoon a body was located which is believed to be that of the missing person.
“The management and volunteers of the Community Rescue Service extend our prayers and deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased at this sad time.”
Search efforts had involved police officers, specialist resources and volunteer rescue teams, as concern for Caitlin’s welfare grew within the local community.
