Cartoon characters Bluey and friends

Families across Antrim and Glengormley are set for a treat this Easter as Bluey — the global children’s TV sensation — arrives on the big screen with a special cinema event designed to delight audiences of all ages.

Landing in local cinemas on Friday 27 March, Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection offers an hour-long experience packed with laughter, imagination and heart, just in time for the school holidays.

A big-screen celebration of play, friendship and family

The special cinema release brings together eight episodes from across the show’s three series, creating a lively compilation centred on the themes that have made Bluey a worldwide hit — play, friendship and family life.

Audiences can look forward to some of the show’s most loved games, including Shadowlands and Octopus, alongside standout friendship moments in episodes such as Circus and Slide.

The format is designed to give families a shared cinema experience, combining familiar favourites with the excitement of seeing them on the big screen.

A global success story continues

Since first appearing on screens in Australia in 2018, Bluey has grown into a household name, winning fans across the globe for its warmth, humour and relatable storytelling.

The new Playdates with Friends Collection builds on the success of earlier cinema releases, including Family Trip Collection (August 2024) and Let’s Play Chef Collection (May 2025), which proved hugely popular with audiences across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Johnny Carr, Head of Event Cinema and Distribution at Vue Lumière, said:

“Bluey has become a true event for family audiences, and we’re delighted to be continuing our collaboration with BBC Studios and Piece of Magic on this new collection.

“The success of previous releases across the UK, Ireland and Europe shows how much families love experiencing Bluey on the big screen, and Playdates with Friends Collection is a joyful next chapter.”
