Ballymoney flat fire: One person taken to Royal Victoria Hospital following early morning blaze

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious fire at a mid-terrace flat on Main Street, Ballymoney, in the early hours of Tuesday 1 July 2025.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) confirmed it received a call at 6.51am, alerting crews to a blaze at the residential property. Fire appliances from Ballymoney, Coleraine, and aerial support from Northland Fire Station attended the incident.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one jet and two hose reel jets. One casualty was rescued from the flat and handed into the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS).
Fire crews remained at the scene for just over three hours, leaving at 9.56am.
In a statement, NIFRS said:
“Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a mid-terrace flat at Main Street, Ballymoney. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one jet and teo hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. One casualty was rescued from the property and transferred to the care of NIAS. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
NIAS responded to the emergency shortly after the fire was reported. The service confirmed it received the 999 call at 6.59am and dispatched two Emergency Ambulance Crews, two Ambulance Officers, a Rapid Response Paramedic and the Charity Air Ambulance with Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) on board.

In a statement, NIAS said:
“One person was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by Ambulance.”
The full circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
