Ballymena woman left in shock after two men attempted to enter her home claiming to be from NIE
An elderly disabled woman has been left in shock after two men called at her Dunclug Gardens home in Ballymena on Friday afternoon, and tried to forcefully gain access. The men falsely claimed to be from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE).
The woman’s daughter shared the story of what happened. She said: “This afternoon two men came to my mum's door in Dunclug Gardens around 4pm, stating that they were from NIE and were there to check electrics.
“When my Mum told them that they weren't getting in, they insisted that they had to be let in, and after my Mum refused, one of the men tried to forcefully push his way in, but the dog went for him and prevented him.”
The concerned daughter wanted to warn other members of the community to be careful of cold callers, and especially to make older and more vulnerable family and friends aware of this type of activity.
The men are described as both wearing black coats, hats and masks. One man was around 5ft10 and the other around 6ft.
Police and NIE confirmed that these men were not employed by the company.
