Ballymena set for another big parade this Jubilee weekend

Pride of the Maine Flute Band is hosting it’s annual competition parade in Ballymena this weekend, and with the sun set to shine and Jubilee celebrations in full swing, it is sure to be an enjoyable evening for band enthusiasts.

Pride of the Maine will begin parading at 6:30pm on Saturday evening (4 June) - walking the Galgorm Road, George Street, Linenhall Street, to Castle Street where it will join up with the other participating bands.

The main procession will begin at approximately 8pm, leaving Castle Street, and proceeding to walk Bridge Street, Harryville Bridge, Henry Street, Larne Street, Douglas Terrace / Paradise Avenue, Queen Street / Sloan's Ct, Harryville Bridge, Bridge Street / North Road, Pentagon / Lower Mill Street, Wellington Street, Ballymoney Street / William Street, Broughshane Street / Church Street, and finishing on Castle Street.

Host band Pride of the Maine will finish by then walking Mill Street, and down Pat's Brae.

Saturday night‘s spectacle will be led by Ballycraigy Sons of Ulster, and will include a wide variety of bands from across Northern Ireland.

In line with the band’s ethos of hosting a family-friendly event that will be enjoyable for everyone, the band fully supports local bylaws prohibiting drinking of alcohol on the streets.

The parade is expected to be finished at approximately 11:00pm.

All proceeds from the parade collection will be presented to local mental health charity Turning Point NI.
