An associate principal from Ballymena is set to take centre stage on national television this weekend as David Radcliffe of Gracehill Primary School appears on the latest series of Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win, ITV’s flagship primetime quiz show.

Hosted by Britain’s best-loved presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the hit entertainment format returns for a fifth series, promising higher stakes, bigger risks and the chance for contestants to climb the show’s famous never-ending money ladder.

David, 60, who is semi-retired after a long career in education, will be joined on the show by his daughter Emma, 23, a pharmaceutical graduate.

The father-and-daughter team from County Antrim are among a new line-up of contestants hoping their general knowledge — and nerve — will carry them towards a potentially life-changing prize.

For David, the decision to apply for the programme carries particular personal significance. Reflecting on recent life-changing experiences, he said:

“I’m 60 now and I think cancer and losing my leg has changed my perspective in life and I want to live for the moment and enjoy life to its full, so I applied for Limitless. We both love the competitive edge and sitting round the telly as a family at the weekend having a great time.”

Emma said she needed little encouragement to join her father on the show.

“As a family we love watching quiz shows and we have that competitive streak, so when dad said he’d applied to go on and wanted me to do it with him I jumped at the chance. Also the chance to meet Ant and Dec was hard to turn down.”

Across six hour-long primetime episodes, Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win continues to make television history with its unique format, offering what producers describe as the world’s only unlimited jackpot, with no upper ceiling on how much contestants can win.

David revealed that preparation for the show has extended well beyond the living room.

“I’ve got a ruler and a tape measure in my back pocket and everywhere I go I’ll be measuring things and weighing things. Our strategy would be to attack when we think we know the answer and to use our lifelines at the right time.”

Emma added that quiz practice has become a family affair.

“I’ve been getting my brother to ask me random trivia questions and I’m always thinking ‘is that a number answer?!’.”

Should they make a successful climb up the limitless ladder, both have clear hopes for what the winnings could bring.

David said:

“It would help my children get on the property ladder. I would love to treat my wife as she has sacrificed so much for our family since I was diagnosed with cancer.”

Emma’s plans are more adventurous:

“I would like to get a car as I share at the moment with my brother and sister. I’d also love to go to New York with my friends to see the ‘Friends Experience’ and then go on a massive road trip through the different states.”

Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win starts this Sunday 11th January, 8:00pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
