Ballymena police seize £3,000 of crack cocaine thrown from fleeing car

Officers from the Ballymena Local Policing Team recovered approximately £3,000 worth of suspected crack cocaine and arrested two males following a recent night-time operation.
Police reported that during extensive patrols on Wednesday night, 14th May, officers observed two males acting suspiciously in a vehicle.
Upon attempting to stop the car, the driver failed to comply, prompting a pursuit during which officers witnessed the occupants discarding packages from the moving vehicle.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of the discarded items, confirmed by police as suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of £3,000. Both individuals were promptly arrested on suspicion of multiple offences.
In a further development, it was revealed that the driver is now being dealt with for seven outstanding warrants. He is also under investigation for other unrelated matters in Belfast.
A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said:
“Ballymena Local Policing Team officers were conducting extensive patrols throughout the night and observed two males acting suspiciously in a vehicle. The driver initially failed to stop for police and was observed throwing packages from the vehicle.”
The spokesperson added: “Approximately £3,000 of suspected crack cocaine was recovered and both males were arrested for a number of offences. The driver is now also being dealt with in relation to seven outstanding warrants and for other unrelated matters in Belfast.”
