Ballymena NI Hospice Support Group plan fundraiser in memory of Maureen Hunter

Ballymena NI Hospice Support Group are planning an ‘Autumn 5K Memory Walk’ in memory of dear friend and fellow volunteer Maureen Hunter, and are asking the community for support as they look to raise much needed funds for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
The group have planned to complete the 5k challenge on Sunday 25 October at 1pm, ‘virtually’ walking together as they both remember, and celebrate, their much loved and greatly missed friend and colleague.
Maureen, who lived in Broughshane, had fought a courageous battle against her illness for two years, before sadly passing away earlier this year.
Spokesperson for the group, Elaine McBride shared: “Maureen was a long serving member of the Support Group and her willing, generous spirit and wonderful smile made her a joy to volunteer with. We are celebrating a ‘life well lived‘ and she is and will always be missed. Maureen was an amazing lady, always helping others and supporting them throughout her life.”
Not only did Maureen work tirelessly for Northern Ireland Hospice but she also volunteered in her own community of Broughshane, the Ballymena Lions Club and her church choir. She was a very talented flower arranger and she was a member of the Ballymena Floral Art Association and Broughshane Woman’s Institute.
“We, together with her family, friends and members of the organisations she was associated with, will walk 5k to raise funds for Northern Ireland Hospice, a cause she held so close to her heart. She was a part of an amazing community that will never forget her,” Elaine concluded.
