Ballymena man pleads guilty to possessing indecent and prohibited images of children

Scales of Justice

Ballymena man 31-year-old Ashley Robinson has today, Thursday 16th February, pleaded guilty at Craigavon Crown Court to possessing indecent and prohibited images of children.

Detective Chief Inspector Leah Crothers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Public Protection Branch said:

"Following a search of Robinson’s property a number of electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.

"These devices contained over 2,000 illegal images of children."

Detective Chief Inspector Leah Crothers continued:

"If a person is downloading, viewing or making indecent images of children, you are leaving a digital footprint and we are actively looking for you.

“Our child internet protection team use specialised equipment to trace any digital interaction right back to the persons front door and make it difficult for offenders to hide evidence from the police.

"We will continue proactively targeting those people in our community who contribute to the cycle of child abuse and I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to get in contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency. We will act on the information we receive."
