Ballymena lad scores a winner for Ipswich Town FC against Tottenham Hotspur

Local Ballymena lad Cameron Stewart scored the winner against Tottenham hotspur on Saturday playing for Ipswich Town under 18's.


Cameron Stewart, who hails from Broughshane, started his footballing journey with local club Carniny Youth at the age of 6.


Cameron joined Coleraine at Under 10’s, then was snapped up by Linfield Youth Academy at the age of 10 years old, playing mainly as a CDM in his 6 years at the blues. The young star was captain for the Co Antrim junior squad in the Super Cup in 2018 when they defeated Manchester United in the final at the Ballymena Showgrounds.


Cameron had trials at Watford, Fulham, Stoke and Ipswich. In March 2019 at the age of 16 he signed a 3 year deal for Ipswich Town Fc saying goodbye to Ballymena making the move across the water to pursue his passion in July last year.


Cameron is currently playing with the under 23’s. Saturday past he made the journey with the under 18’s to London to play Tottenham Hotspur at their academy in a pre-season friendly behind closed doors, where he scored the winner with a header to win 2-1!
