Dementia NI supporters Anne McBride (aged 41) and Lynsey Hyndman (aged 39) from Ballymena, Co Antrim are fitness fanatics and have signed up for their own virtual challenge to help raise funds for people living with dementia.

From 27th December to 27th January (one month) both Anne & Lynsey will push themselves through their hardest test yet by taking part each day in their own 7k run and row challenge.

Anne sais: “Dementia is one of the biggest killers in the UK so I want to raise money for Dementia NI. With the numbers of people living with dementia expected to rise, we need to take action now to tackle the biggest health crisis of our time. My husband sadly has lost many close family members to dementia and that is the main reason why I am encouraged to support the wonderful work of local charity Dementia NI.

“I would like to thank everyone who had donated to Lynsey and I, so far we have raised £1800.00 but our page will remain open until the end of the month. There is still time to donate as I am sure everyone is impacted by this life limiting and horrible illness”.

Lynsey said: “I am looking forward to the 7k a day run or row challenge for dementia, but I am not looking forward so much to the cold weather and dark nights. I also lost my gran to dementia and I am taking part in this personal challenge in memory of my gran.

“I am overwhelmed by the support we have received so far and would like to thank everyone who donated so generously. We would also like to thank Jim Cosgrove from Stoneworks Gymnasium for supporting us with our challenge.”
