Pet lovers across Northern Ireland are being invited to start the New Year on a high note as Barket, the much-loved market celebrating pets and their people, returns to The Junction Retail and Leisure Park in Antrim on Saturday 17 January 2026.

Running from 11am to 4pm, the event promises a lively, family-friendly atmosphere, with over 50 stalls and exhibitors offering everything from gourmet dog treats and eco-friendly toys to bespoke collars and pet wellness products.

Now firmly established as a must-visit date in the local calendar, Barket has built a reputation for bringing together animal lovers of all ages in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Alongside popular returning traders such as The Woofternoon Tea Co, Murphy & Bailey, The Suddy Dog, and Haus of Hank, the event will also shine a spotlight on a range of animal charities and sanctuaries.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives from Cavaliers in Need, Rosie’s Trust, Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary, the NI Exotic Animal Sanctuary and Ulster Wildlife, all of whom will be raising awareness of their work and offering ways for the public to support their causes.

Adding a practical touch to the day, The Pet Nurse, Claire McConaghy, will be on hand offering essential pet care services, including nail trims, microchipping, ID checks and ear cleaning — ideal for owners keen to keep their companions healthy and comfortable.

While pets are very much centre stage, there is plenty on offer for humans too. Street food vendors including Streetza, Station 4 Kitchen, Amber Catering & Cakes, and Pie in the Sky will keep visitors well fed, while local makers such as Barely Tolerated Designs and Woolly Wonders showcase artisan crafts.

Entertainment will run throughout the day, with live music from Ryan Mac, dog agility displays by Training Paws NI, a pet portrait studio, and the ever-popular Best Dressed Dog competition, which is expected to draw a crowd once again.

Chris Flynn, Centre Director at The Junction, said:

“This is the third year of hosting Barket at The Junction, and it’s always one of our most heart warming and fun-filled events. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate the bond between people and their pets, and raise support for some incredible animal charities and sanctuaries.”

With its mix of shopping, entertainment and charitable focus, Barket offers more than just a day out — it’s a celebration of the special bond between people and their animals.

So whether your best friend has paws, hooves, scales or tails, visitors are encouraged to head along to The Junction this Saturday and experience Barket, where the dogs aren’t just welcome — they’re the guests of honour.
