Arson investigation after Ballymena house fire spreads to neighbouring property

Detectives are investigating an arson attack with intent to endanger life after a fire at a house in Ballymena spread to a neighbouring property in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police and firefighters were called to the Castle Gardens area at around 12.25am on Thursday 13 August, with the blaze subsequently extinguished and no injuries reported.
Investigators believe the fire was started deliberately and are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or other footage from the area to come forward.
Fire spreads to neighbouring property
Police received the report of a house fire at approximately 12.25am.
Officers attended alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, with police confirming the fire had spread from the property to a neighbouring home.
The blaze was extinguished and, despite the potentially serious circumstances, nobody was reported injured.
Police have not disclosed the extent of the damage to either property or whether anyone was inside the homes when the fire began.
Treated as arson with intent to endanger life
Detectives believe the fire was started deliberately and are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the attack are continuing.
Police have asked anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Castle Gardens area around the time of the fire to contact detectives.
They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have CCTV or other footage which could assist the investigation.
