Alderman Stewart McDonald welcomes the confirmation of resurfacing works on Sand Road, Galgorm

Resurfacing works on Sand Road, Galgorm are expected to commence soon after confirmation from the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), with short-term disruption anticipated while the improvement scheme is carried out.

TUV Alderman Stewart McDonald welcomed the update, describing the long-awaited road maintenance as necessary and beneficial for the area.

“I welcome confirmation from DfI that resurfacing work on Sand Road will commence soon. Unfortunately there will be some disruption during the work taking place,” he said.

“This is a matter which has needed to be addressed for some time and I believe that the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by the benefits of this work”.

A spokesperson for the Department for Infrastructure confirmed that some small-scale resurfacing is planned for Sand Road.

However, the department said it is currently awaiting confirmed start dates from the contractor before works can begin.

The planned resurfacing scheme is intended to address the condition of the road surface, which has been a concern locally for some time.

While motorists and nearby residents are likely to experience temporary disruption during the works, the improvements are expected to enhance road quality and driving conditions once completed.

Further details, including confirmed commencement dates and any traffic management arrangements, are expected once the contractor’s schedule has been finalised.
