Alderman Stewart McDonald welcomes completion of much-needed road upgrade in Portglenone

Alderman Stewart McDonald of the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) has welcomed the completion of essential resurfacing works on the Cullybackey Road in Portglenone, describing it as a “significant improvement” to local infrastructure.
The project, which required the temporary closure of the section of road from Main Street to Garvaghy Crescent, has now been fully finished.
Alderman McDonald said he was pleased to see a long-standing concern addressed.
“I am delighted to see the successful completion of essential resurfacing works on the Cullybackey Road in Portglenone, marking a significant improvement to our local infrastructure,” he said.
He added that the upgrade would benefit residents, motorists, and the wider community.
“The resurfacing project, which temporarily closed the section of road from Main Street to Garvaghy Crescent has now been fully completed. This much-needed upgrade addresses one of my long-standing concerns about road quality in the area, benefiting residents, motorists, and our wider community,” he continued.

The TUV Alderman also expressed gratitude to North Antrim MLA Timothy Gaston for his role in ensuring the works went ahead.
“This work was sorely needed, and I want to extend my sincere thanks to our North Antrim MLA, Timothy Gaston, for pushing this project forward with such determination. His efforts have been instrumental in ensuring this vital improvement.”
The resurfacing scheme is part of wider infrastructure investment aimed at tackling road surface issues across Mid and East Antrim.
