Alderman Stewart McDonald welcomes completed work on Mount Pleasant traffic issues

Local TUV Alderman Stewart McDonald has welcomed the recent completion of works to enhance the safety of the road junction at Mount Pleasant, Portglenone.

Alderman Stewart McDonald said:

“I am pleased to see that work has been completed on blocking off the exit at Mount Pleasant which has been a road safety danger for some time.

“The junction has been curbed and grassed. Once the grass has grown this long running saga will finally be resolved.

“I am very pleased that the danger of a repeat of the accidents which have occurred in the past has now been removed. My only regret is that it has taken so long. The amount of time which it has taken to get this relatively simple matter resolved has been grossly disproportionate. There needs to be more speedy resolution of such matters.

“While the issue has been resolved there remains an onus on us all to be careful on the roads. Ultimately, it's down to all of us as drivers to expect the unexpected when behind the wheel and drive in a responsible fashion.”
