TUV Alderman Stewart McDonald has condemned a fresh spate of vandalism in Ahoghill after the village’s Community Centre was defaced with graffiti overnight.
The damage included markings on seating, the outdoor covering, doors and fencing, sparking widespread frustration in the community.
The incident follows less than 24 hours after similar graffiti appeared a business premises on the Cullybackey Link Road area of Ahoghill.
In his statement, Alderman McDonald said:
“I am disgusted to see yet more graffiti appear in Ahoghill – this time at the Community Centre, where seating, the outdoor covering, doors and fencing have all been defaced.
“This comes less than 24 hours after similar nonsense was daubed in the Link Road area of the town.
“This is nothing more than mindless destruction of property and it must stop. I appeal to anyone with information to contact the PSNI so that those responsible can be caught and held to account for their actions.”
Police have been urged to pursue those responsible, while local residents are being asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The back-to-back incidents have heightened concerns about vandalism and antisocial behaviour in the village.
