Man rescued from apartment blaze in Ballymena

There has been praise for firefighters who were responsible for rescuing a male from

a burning apartment in Ballymena on Thursday afternoon, 9 September.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) was tasked to the scene of the blaze at a property on Galgorm Road at 12.45pm earlier today.

Four Fire Appliances attended, including two from Ballymena, and two from Antrim.


A spokesperson for NIFRS commented:


Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. One male casualty was rescued by Firefighters and placed into the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.


“The incident was dealt with by 2.25pm and the cause of the fire is being treated as accidental ignition.”


There are no further details this evening of the male’s condition.
