Detectives granted extension to question man (32) arrested on suspicion of murder of 2 year old girl


Detectives from Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the circumstances of the death of a two-year-old girl on Friday, 6 August, have been granted a court extension for an additional 36 hours to question a 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.

It was revealed that the child was admitted to hospital on afternoon (6 August 2021) after Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended an address in the Park Avenue in Dungannon with what was reported as a serious head injury. The child later died in hospital.

Police investigating the child’s death arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the incident, and said a post mortem would be conducted to establish the cause of the child's death.
