Doagh Road in Ballyclare to benefit from major resurfacing works as Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announces £445k investment

A major £445,000 carriageway resurfacing project has commenced on the Doagh Road in Ballyclare, marking a significant infrastructure investment for the area.

The resurfacing scheme, announced by Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, will span approximately 710 metres along the Doagh Road, between Park Avenue and The Square.

The improvement works are scheduled to be substantially completed by Friday 29 August 2025, subject to favourable weather conditions.

“This is a substantial investment for the Ballyclare area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users,” said Minister Kimmins.

“The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities.

“This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of residents, businesses and those travelling in the local area. Work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday 29 August 2025.

“I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

To safely carry out the scheme, a weekday road closure will be implemented from The Square to Clare Heights, operational between 8am and 6pm from Monday 4 August to Friday 29 August 2025.

During these closure periods, a clearly signed diversion route will be in place via B95 Doagh Road, B94 North End, B94 Rashee Road and B56 Jubilee Road, and vice versa.

The Department for Infrastructure has stated that the works and traffic management measures have been planned to minimise inconvenience. Local access, Translink bus services, and school transport will be maintained where possible, though road users are advised to allow extra travel time and to adhere to all temporary traffic restrictions in place.

The Department also confirmed that it will provide updates should weather or other factors affect the project timeline.
