You can buy anything from coffees, to electrical items, clothes or toys, and by supporting local you could win £1000 to spend in vouchers to help make Christmas a little easier this year.

Ballymena BID manager Emma McCrea says the competition will bring some festive cheer: “There’s no doubt this has been a very difficult year, and we really wanted to give something back to the local community, shoppers and traders alike. With twenty thousand pounds worth of vouchers available, this could really be life changing for some families this winter.

“This is a real feel good event that benefits everyone and a chance to give back during these hard times. Christmas is a time to look out for one another and to treat yourself and the ones you love, so we’re combining these elements into an amazing opportunity to spread some festive feeling around Ballymena this November and December.

“Safety is also so important to us and our retailers so if you’re popping in, don’t forget your mask, use sanitiser and enjoy yourself as you get entering by supporting local retailers.”

You can enter with as many purchases as you like that make up at least £30 from 10 to 30 November.

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston said: “Council is very proud to be supporting this fantastically festive competition with BID this year. At times 2020 has been bleak, but this £20k in prizes will undoubtedly change the lives of some lucky local shoppers whilst helping support the high street retailers.

“Ballymena town centre has an array of traders offering everything from artisan produce, boutique clothing, homewares, toys, and of course tasty treats and coffees. By spending in our local economies, we can help give the gift of longevity for these businesses during hard times, so what better excuse to shop safely, shop local and be in with the chance to have your Christmas presents paid for in vouchers.”
