Women’s Aid ABCLN & NIFRS (North) reaffirm partnership to make homes a safer place

Women's Aid-ABCLN has reaffirmed its commitment to work in partnership with Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) North District.

It comes following the completion of Safe Place training for stations and crews across Antrim, Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey.

The Safe Place initiative is a simple way for organisations to be equipped to provide information and signposting to anyone affected by domestic abuse.

NIFRS Station Commander, Alan Barr from Ballymena District said:

"We are looking forward to developing partnership working with Women's Aid-ABCLN.

“This partnership will assist firefighters in being more aware of the signs of domestic abuse in the home. It will also provide an opportunity for Women's Aid-ABCLN to refer women on to the NI Fire and Rescue Service to provide them with fire safety in the home advice.

"Ultimately, working in partnership with agencies such as Women's Aid-ABCLN supports NIFRS in fulfilling its purpose, which is making Northern Ireland a safer place and improving community well being.”
