Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after Dunloy crash as man in his 20s arrested

A woman has been left with life-threatening injuries following a serious two-vehicle collision in Dunloy on Saturday evening, with a man in his 20s arrested at the scene on suspicion of a number of driving offences.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Bridge Road at around 7.10pm on Saturday, 16 May, prompting a major response and the temporary closure of the road while police carried out investigations.
The injured woman was taken to hospital for treatment, where her condition is understood to be critical.
Police investigation ongoing after serious collision
Chief Inspector Tate said officers attended alongside colleagues from the emergency services following reports of the collision.
“One woman was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries, which are believed to be life threatening at this time,” he said.
Police confirmed a man aged in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a number of driving offences and remains in custody.
The incident caused disruption in the area overnight as Bridge Road remained closed for a period to allow emergency crews and collision investigators to examine the scene.
The road has since reopened to traffic.
Appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are urging anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the time to come forward.
Police are particularly keen to hear from motorists or members of the public who may have captured mobile phone footage or dash cam video that could assist enquiries.
Chief Inspector Tate added:
“Police enquiries are ongoing, and we would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and might have any mobile phone or dash cam footage, or any other information which might assist, to get in touch.”
