A woman in her 30s has died following a serious two-vehicle road traffic collision near Nutts Corner in Crumlin, police have confirmed.
The fatal collision occurred on the Moira Road at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon, 11 January.
Emergency services attended the scene after a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Skoda Superb were involved in the crash.
The woman, who was travelling as a backseat passenger, was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly later died from her injuries.
A man in his 30s, who was also a passenger in the same vehicle, sustained critical injuries and remains seriously ill. Several other people involved in the collision were treated for minor injuries.
Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing and have appealed to the public for information.
Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“Our officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene. Sadly, a woman later died from her injuries.
“We are investigating what happened and require the public’s assistance with our enquiries. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any dash-cam footage of the road at the time which could assist with our investigation, please contact us in the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 735 11/01/26.”
The Moira Road is a busy commuter route, and Sunday’s tragedy has once again highlighted the devastating consequences of serious road traffic collisions.
