The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey produces estimates of the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 in private residential households across the UK, regardless of symptoms.
This is not affected by changes in testing policy or behaviour and is a useful indicator of the true prevalence and incidence of COVID-19. This reached its highest level at the beginning of February 2022 (7.9%).
There have been increases prevalence and incidence in recent weeks.
In the week ending 18 June 2022, the estimated number of people testing positive for COVID-19 was 59,900 (95% credible interval: 46,900 to 74,400). This equates to 3.26% of the population or around 1 in 30 people. This increased from 1 in 45 people the previous week.
