Two Ballymena convenience stores have won prizes worth a combined £1,200 through a drinks supplier’s retailer incentive scheme.

Centra on Antrim Road secured one of AG Barr’s top £1,000 prizes, while Centra on Frosses Road received £200. MACE in Cloughmills also picked up a £100 prize.

The stores are among 12 Northern Ireland retailers to have shared £5,200 so far through the scheme, which rewards participating shops for stocking and promoting the company’s drinks ranges.

Northern Ireland prize winners

The initiative runs from June until December, with £9,100 in prizes available across the seven months. AG Barr’s portfolio includes IRN-BRU, BOOST, Rubicon and Barr.

Alongside Centra Antrim Road, the other £1,000 winners are SPAR on Katesbridge Road, Banbridge; Centra McGlade’s Rosetta Filling Station, Belfast; and SPAR Twin Spires, Belfast.

The other £200 recipients are VIVO on Old Strabane Road, Derry; Centra on Main Street, Maguiresbridge; and Centra on Irvinestown Road, Enniskillen.

Joining MACE Cloughmills in receiving £100 are Nisa Seymour Gardens, Derry; SPAR on Rossorry Church Road, Enniskillen; and SPAR on Westland Road South, Cookstown.

How retailers qualify

Participating retailers earn points by stocking AG Barr’s core and wider ranges, supporting new product launches and maintaining promotional displays in their stores.

Those achieving 160–175 points qualify for the £100 draw, while 180–200 points qualify for £200 and more than 200 points for the £1,000 prize.

Brendan Loughran, AG Barr’s Country Manager Ireland, said:

“Independent and convenience retailers are hugely important to our brands in Northern Ireland, and this initiative allows us to reward that support while helping stores maximise the opportunity across our portfolio.”

He added:

“We’ve already awarded £5,200 in four months, with plenty more still to be won before the end of the year.”

Taking part before December

Green Field Marketing is supporting the initiative through its field sales team across Northern Ireland.

Retailers interested in taking part before the scheme ends in December should speak directly to their local AG Barr representative for details of the points available, qualifying criteria and how to enter.
