Northern Ireland animal welfare Charity, the USPCA, is calling on animal lovers across the region to set their sights on a tough trekking challenge to help raise much-needed funds for the Charity.
Launched in the New Year, Trek for Tails encourages the public to grab their trainers and trek over the space of four weeks to complete their challenge target which ranges from 50km-150km.
With just four weeks to go, the Charity is calling for last registrations from those wishing to take on this gruelling challenge. Designed to suit all ages and fitness levels, Trek for Tails is in its second year and has attracted support from across Northern Ireland.
Colleen Tinnelly, USPCA Development Manager, said:
“We’re delighted to see the return of Trek for Tails after its first year in 2021. We saw great support from the public who embraced the challenge to its fullest, braving the sharper weather conditions to support a worthy cause.
“At this time of the year many people set New Year’s plans to improve their overall health and fitness, and this challenge offers the perfect opportunity to achieve these goals.
“As the USPCA receives no funding from the government, the support of the public has been more important than ever in helping us sustain our services to help vulnerable animals here in Northern Ireland. Events like this can have such an impact.
“It’s great to see slightly milder weather conditions this year, with brighter and warmer days hopefully on the way, there’s even more of an excuse to join in on the challenge! We’ve had a brilliant response to the event so far and some wonderful pictures and target updates from the participants.
“Whether you fancy a challenge for yourself or with a friend (especially our companion animals) we encourage you to sign up today. Thank you to everyone for their fantastic support to date, it’s a real commitment to take on amongst your everyday lives and routines and really demonstrates your passion for helping animals in need.”
The event’s registration fee is £10 with a suggested sponsorship of £50.
