Tragedy as woman dies and police launch murder investigation

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died following an incident at a property in Derry/Londonderry on Saturday morning.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team confirmed the woman was discovered injured at a house in the Summer Meadows Mews area of the city at around 10.20am on 21 March.
She was taken to hospital by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service colleagues but later died from her injuries.
Arrest made as enquiries continue
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin said officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
She said:
“Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones, who are left trying to come to terms with this shocking loss.”
Appeal for information
Police have issued an appeal to the public for assistance as enquiries remain ongoing.
Detective Inspector Griffin added:
“Our enquiries are continuing, and I am appealing to anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact our officers on 101 quoting reference 469 – 21/03/26.”
Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.
The incident is likely to send shockwaves through the local community, with police maintaining a presence in the area as investigations progress.
