Tool theft in Ballymena sparks police appeal after suspicious vehicle spotted

Police in Ballymena are appealing for information after tools were stolen from a trailer outside a home in the Ashbourne Manor area on Wednesday morning.
The theft was reported to have happened shortly after 11am on Wednesday 7 May, with officers now investigating the incident and seeking witnesses or footage from the area.
A white Vauxhall Grandland or Vauxhall Frontera was seen in the vicinity at the time of the theft before leaving in the direction of the Woodbourne Road.
The incident is likely to raise fresh concern among local residents and tradespeople over opportunistic thefts targeting valuable tools and equipment, which can carry significant financial consequences for victims.
Police seek CCTV and dashcam footage
Police Service of Northern Ireland officers are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the theft to come forward.
Constable McDonald said:
“We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around this time to contact police.
“We’d be particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or other footage.
“Additionally, if you have been offered any tools for sale in unusual circumstances - please let us know.
“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1196 of 07/05/26.”
Public urged to report information
Police have reminded the public that information can also be submitted online through the PSNI reporting portal.
Anyone with information relating to the theft, suspicious vehicle movements, or attempts to sell tools in unusual circumstances is being encouraged to contact investigators.
