A new Christmas lights display is bringing festive warmth, faith and community spirit to Broughshane this winter, as Tim’s Lights makes its debut on Caherty Hill in support of Marie Curie Northern Ireland.

The charity display, which also runs in Tandragee, is rooted in a deeply personal mission — to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas while raising vital funds for end-of-life care across Northern Ireland.

Since first switching on in 2014, Tim’s Lights has raised an impressive £44,029 for Marie Curie, with the newly launched Broughshane display already contributing £350 in its first year.

Organisers say Tim’s Lights exists “to celebrate the REAL meaning of the Christmas season – the birth of Jesus Christ, while fundraising vital funds for the terminal illness care provision of Marie Curie (NI), and hoping to put a smile on the faces of all of the visitors throughout the festive season!”

The Broughshane display is run by husband-and-wife team Tim and Sarah, whose passion for combining faith, creativity and charitable giving has seen their lights displays grow into a much-loved festive tradition.

Their work is supported by the European Lighting Fantastics Facebook community, which brings together lighting enthusiasts from across the UK to raise thousands of pounds for worthy causes.

At the heart of the display is a carefully choreographed 30-minute lights-to-music show, featuring more than 6,000 individually controllable LEDs.

The advanced setup allows for a wide range of patterns and effects, all synchronised precisely with the music, creating a captivating experience for visitors of all ages.

Shows run strictly on scheduled evenings to minimise disruption to local residents. Performances take place on Thursday and Friday nights at 7pm, and Saturday evenings at 5pm and 7pm, with additional shows planned for Christmas Eve at 5pm and 7pm.

To ensure the safety of visitors and respect for neighbours, the display area is pedestrian-only. Parking is available at Broughshane Gospel Hall and McNeill’s car parks, with organisers reminding visitors that parking is at vehicle owners’ own responsibility.

The display can be found at 24 Caherty Hill, Broughshane, BT42 4BD, with the location also available via what3words: ///roost.blotting.operated.

Donations are welcomed throughout the season and can be made via Tim’s Lights’ JustGiving page, helping Marie Curie continue its vital work supporting people living with terminal illness and their families during the most difficult of times.

For full show details, updates and timings, visitors are encouraged to follow Tim’s Lights NI on Facebook and Instagram, or visit www.timslights.co.uk.

As the lights shine across Caherty Hill this Christmas, Tim’s Lights offers more than a visual spectacle — it is a reminder of generosity, faith and community, illuminating the season with hope and compassion.
