Police investigating recent “racially-motivated disorder” in Ballymena have charged three further individuals, bringing the total number of arrests to 46.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Public Order Enquiry Team confirmed today (Saturday, 5 July) that two men, aged 27 and 42, have been charged with riot, while a third man, aged 32, has been charged with burglary with intent to cause unlawful damage.

All three charges relate to disorder which took place in Ballymena during June. The men are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today.

A police spokesperson noted:

“As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”

The PSNI has reiterated its appeal for public assistance in identifying further individuals believed to have been involved in the ongoing disorder, which has been described as racially motivated.

A number of images of people officers are seeking to identify have been released on the PSNI website at:

“If you are able to identify any of the people shown in these images or can provide information about them you should contact police on 101,” the PSNI urged.

In addition, police are appealing for the public to submit any relevant footage — including CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam material — through the Major Incident Public Portal:

The investigation remains active as officers continue to identify and pursue those involved in the June incidents.
