Teenager sadly dies after scrambler and lorry collision as PSNI appeal for witnesses

A 16-year-old boy has sadly died following a collision involving a scrambler motorcycle and a lorry in Co Tyrone.

The teenager has been named by police as Connor Magee Campbell, from the Clonoe area. He was seriously injured in the collision on Derryloughan Road, Coalisland, on Thursday evening and later died in hospital.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is now appealing for witnesses and any video footage that could help investigators establish exactly what happened.

Police confirm teenager’s death

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said officers received a report of the collision at approximately 8.15pm on Thursday, 30 July.

The collision involved a scrambler motorcycle and a Scania lorry.

Police officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, with medical treatment provided before Connor was taken to hospital.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he later died from his injuries.

Appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage

Detective Inspector Stewart said:

“We received a report at approximately 8.15pm on Thursday evening, 30th July of a collision involving a scrambler and Scania lorry in the Derryloughan Road area.

“Officers attended, alongside Northern Ireland Ambulance Service colleagues – and medical treatment was provided at the scene.

“The 16-year-old, who has been named as Connor Magee Campbell from the Clonoe area, was taken onward to hospital where he sadly later died from his injuries.

“We would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage of what happened, which could assist with our ongoing enquiries.”

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dash-cam or other video footage from the area around the time of the incident, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1724 of 30/07/26.
