Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is set to bring music to the masses this summer with the return of ‘Summer Serenades’, a much-loved series of free, live outdoor performances taking place across the borough throughout July and August 2025.

Taking place every Sunday from 3pm to 4pm, these vibrant events invite residents and visitors alike to experience an eclectic mix of musical acts — from ukulele ensembles and brass bands to pipe and accordion groups — in some of the area’s most scenic outdoor locations.

“Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and soak up the atmosphere,” the Council encourages. “Talented local musicians will fill the air with uplifting tunes — perfect for a relaxing afternoon with family and friends!”

The series opens on 13 July in Town Park, Larne, with a performance by the East Antrim Accordion Band, setting the tone for a lively summer. The following week, on 20 July, Ballymena Ukes will entertain crowds at Ecos Ballymena.

On 27 July, the music heads to the Whitehead Promenade as CWA Brass performs as part of the Whitehead Summer Festival. The month of August kicks off on 3 August with the stirring sounds of the Major Sinclair Pipe Band, playing at Castle Green in Carrickfergus during the Around the Town Festival.

The momentum continues on 10 August at Marine Gardens, Carrick, where the Ballyduff Silver Band will take to the stage. On 17 August, it’s the turn of the 3rd Carrick Band, who will bring their traditional flair back to Castle Green.

The penultimate concert of the season will be held on 24 August at Marine Gardens, with another performance by the ever-popular East Antrim Accordion band. Finally, on 31 August, CWA Brass will close the programme at Eglinton Barn as part of the Glenarm Art & Literature Festival.

As a special addition, the Counties Antrim & Derry Fiddlers Association will perform on Sunday 14 September at Gracehill from 2pm to 4pm, in celebration of European Heritage Open Day.
