Dogs Trust Ballymena is encouraging festive shoppers to consider a heartfelt and meaningful Christmas gift this year by sponsoring one of the charity’s dogs, including much-loved English Springer Spaniel, Zebedee.
With Christmas preparations well underway, Dogs Trust’s ‘Sponsor A Dog Scheme’ provides an ideal present for the canine enthusiast in your life.
A sponsorship not only supports the charity’s work caring for around 1,500 dogs at any one time, but also includes a range of special perks for the recipient.
Those who choose to sponsor a dog receive a personalised sponsorship pack containing a photo certificate of their chosen canine, photo postcards, a window sticker and a fridge magnet. Supporters also receive updates from their sponsor dog three times a year, arriving at Christmas, on Valentine’s Day and in the summer.

Sponsorship starts from just £1 per week, helping Dogs Trust continue its vital work across its 21 rehoming centres. Currently, the charity has 21 dogs available for sponsorship, including Zebedee at Dogs Trust Ballymena.
Zebedee, an energetic English Springer Spaniel, has quickly become a favourite among staff. Full of life, playful, and known for his antics, he enjoys hide and seek with his carers and is famed for both his adorable floppy ears and his distinctive high-pitched bark that can often be heard when he’s having fun.
When he’s not playing, Zebedee loves nothing more than settling down for an afternoon snooze on his sofa.
Conor O’Kane, Manager at Dogs Trust Ballymena, said:
“We adore Zebedee and I am sure the dog lover in your life will too. By sponsoring a dog like Zebedee not only are you helping your chosen sponsor dog, but you are also helping us care for the hundreds of dogs being cared for within our 21 rehoming centres.
“The money raised through this scheme is vital in helping with all aspects of running our centre, from heating the kennels, providing treats and enrichment toys, training and behaviour support and any veterinary care required for our dogs.”
Dogs Trust finds homes for thousands of dogs each year. Most dogs are rehomed within around six weeks, but for those who require additional support or longer-term care, the charity provides a safe, stable and caring environment for as long as needed.
