A second bicycle has been stolen in as many weeks from All Saints Chapel in Ballymena, prompting renewed calls for vigilance from local Sinn Féin Councillor Bréanainn Lyness.

The latest theft reportedly occurred while parishioners were attending Mass at the All Saints Parish Centre, highlighting growing concern over opportunistic crimes targeting community spaces.

Confirming the incident, Councillor Lyness urged local residents to be alert and take extra precautions when securing their bicycles near the chapel.

“As a local councillor, I want to alert residents that there has been a second incident of bike theft in just two weeks at All Saints Parish Centre in Ballymena, occurring while parishioners attended Mass,” Councillor Lyness said.

“It is truly the lowest of the low when people take advantage of those practising their faith. I urge everyone attending services to take extra care in securing their bicycles and to report any suspicious activity to the PSNI without delay.

“Our parish community deserves to worship without fear of theft, and I will be raising this issue with local authorities to ensure increased security in the area.”

The repeated incidents have caused frustration within the All Saints parish community, where some residents rely on bicycles for transport to and from services and local activities.

Local parishioners have expressed hope that police patrols and CCTV coverage in the area can be reviewed to deter further thefts.
