Missing County Tyrone woman Lyndsey Rankin
The search for a missing County Tyrone woman has entered its tenth day, with police renewing their appeal for information as extensive searches continue around Lower Lough Erne and the Castle Archdale area.
Thirty-one-year-old Lyndsey Rankin, from Castlederg, was reported missing after she was last seen in the Castle Archdale Marina area of Lisnarick at approximately 9.30am on Friday, 5 June.
She was wearing black leggings and a dark-coloured top when she was last seen.
The prolonged search operation has involved multiple emergency service and voluntary organisations, with officers continuing enquiries across the Fermanagh area as concern for Lyndsey’s welfare remains high.
Major multi-agency search continues
Police say searches will continue around Lower Lough Erne, Castle Archdale and surrounding areas as efforts to locate Lyndsey remain ongoing.
The operation is being coordinated by a Police Search Adviser (POLSA) and includes support from a number of specialist agencies and volunteer rescue groups.
Those involved in the search include:
• Coastguard teams
• Community Rescue Service (CRS)
• Foyle Search and Rescue
• RNLI crews
Police have thanked members of the public who have already come forward with information regarding Lyndsey’s movements on the morning she disappeared.
Police appeal for information from the public
Inspector Melanie Hicks said officers remain committed to finding Lyndsey and acknowledged the distress being experienced by her family and the wider community.
She said:
“We understand the community’s concern and know this is a very painful time for Lyndsey’s family. We want to assure them that we are working hard to find Lyndsey, with the assistance of colleagues and voluntary partners, including those from the Coastguard, Community Rescue Service (CRS), Foyle Search and Rescue and the RNLI. All these enquiries are being coordinated by a Police Search Adviser (POLSA).”
The inspector added:
“We are now on day 10 since Lyndsey was last seen. The public will have noticed police and emergency services in the area conducting our ongoing searches and this will continue with searches around the Lower Lough Erne, Castle Archdale and surrounding area.”
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Lyndsey in the days leading up to her disappearance, as well as anyone who may have information that could assist ongoing enquiries.
