Road closed after child injured in Antrim collision as police appeal for witnesses

A child was injured in a road traffic collision involving a car on the Ballycraigy Road in Antrim on Wednesday evening, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage as enquiries continue.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, 8 July, after receiving reports that a child had been struck in a collision involving a blue Seat Leon.
Police officers attended alongside other emergency services, who provided medical assistance to the injured child. No further details about the child’s condition have been released.
Police seeking witnesses and footage
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and is urging anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Long said:
“We received a report at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, 8th July, that a child had been injured following a collision involving a blue Seat Leon on the Ballycraigy Road.
“Our officers attended alongside other emergency services, who provided medical assistance to the child.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask anyone with information which could assist – including dash-cam or other footage – to contact police using our witness appeal form.”
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from motorists or residents who may have captured the incident or the moments leading up to it on dash-cam, CCTV or other video footage.
