Families in Fisherwick, Ballymena have something to smile about as a brand-new inclusive play park has officially opened in Fisherwick, thanks to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.


Packed with fun and designed with everyone in mind, the play park is bursting with colourful, modern equipment that caters to children of all ages and abilities. Developed following feedback from the local community, the space promises to be a firm favourite for years to come.



Built by Garden Escapes, the park includes a brilliant mix of features: senior and junior multi-play units, an inclusive roundabout, accessible swings, comfy summer seating, and even a wheelchair-friendly picnic bench—perfect for sunny afternoons.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman William McCaughey, officially welcomed the opening, saying:


“It is fantastic to see the opening of this new play park.


“Council takes the importance of Play seriously and recognises how important it is for the Health and Wellbeing of our children and young people. I believe the opening of this new play park demonstrates Council’s commitment to delivering new quality play provision across the Borough as highlighted in our Play Investment Strategy.



“Establishing better quality play parks is part of our wider ambition to ensure that communities have a real sense of identity and place, and that everyone can enjoy them.


“I hope that this new play park is enjoyed by the children and young people for many years to come.”


The new facility is the latest success under the Council’s ‘Out to Play Strategy’ and ‘Play Investment Framework’—plans that aim to ensure every child across the Borough has access to safe, inspiring, and inclusive play spaces.



Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has made it clear that play matters—and that investment in these spaces is an investment in the wellbeing, development, and happiness of local families.
