Ballymena store volunteer recognised with ReStore Gold Award

Martin Falls, a volunteer with ReStore Ballymena, has been recognised by the charity for his hard work and dedication as part of the local team, especially during the pandemic of the last year.

Habitat ReStore is the hub for the work of Habitat NI, connecting the local and global, as the organisation pursues a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

By selling donated new and used building and home improvement materials, it serves thousands of families who need help to improve their homes at low cost and diverts tons of material from landfill.

ReStore delivers intentional volunteering opportunities, and raises funds to build hope and homes around the world.

Habitat ReStores’ in Ballymena, Lisburn and Newry and Newtownards, has enabled the group to fulfil the commitment to serve more people locally here in Northern Ireland.

Martin is pictured in the middle between Isobel Kerr (ReStore Manager) and Sonia Carson (NHSCT Day Opportunities Co-Ordinator) who supports Martin and has placed him with Habitat ReStore Ballymena.

Isobel Kerr, ReStore Manager, explained:

“Through ReStore we serve thousands of local people, many who cannot afford commercial prices to improve their homes.

“The ReStore model allows us to divert tons of reusable material from landfill which helps build a more sustainable future for Northern Ireland, while providing training and employment opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities.”

ReStore volunteers now invest 2500 hours every month in reaching out to the local community, and each one of them makes a huge contribution to our mission.

Each year ReStore recognises it’s volunteers from each local outlet and present them with a ReStore Gold Award.

“This year we have awarded Martin Falls in our Ballymena store this award,” Isobel said.

“Martin has volunteered in the store throughout the pandemic and has been invaluable to us. His hard work ensures the smooth running of the store, and is a central part of the Ballymena team. I am delighted to present him with this award.”

Well done Martin!
