Primark Northern Ireland app

Primark has officially launched its first-ever mobile app in Northern Ireland, marking a significant digital step for the high street retailer as it brings real-time stock checks, personalised notifications and store information directly to shoppers’ phones for the first time.

The move means customers across Northern Ireland can now browse favourite items, check availability before travelling to store and receive updates on new collections — a major shift for a retailer whose shopping experience has traditionally centred almost entirely on its physical stores.

The launch went live today, Thursday, 9 April 2026, with Northern Ireland and Great Britain customers joining shoppers in the Republic of Ireland and Italy, where the app first launched last summer.

For local shoppers, the biggest immediate impact is convenience: customers can now check whether items are in stock before making a trip to stores including Primark Ballymena and other locations across Northern Ireland.

A major digital step for the retailer

Available now via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the new platform is designed to bring Primark’s in-store experience into a digital format without replacing the retailer’s core bricks-and-mortar model.

The app allows users to browse products digitally while still encouraging in-store purchases and visits.

Among its key features are:

  • real-time stock checks

  • personalised notifications

  • store opening hours and directions

  • a built-in store locator

  • a favourites list for saved items

  • updates on new arrivals and collection launches

The stock check feature is likely to be one of the most practical tools for Northern Ireland shoppers, particularly for customers travelling from towns such as Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus and surrounding areas into larger retail centres.

The retailer said the platform has been designed to retain “the excitement of in-store discovery” while making shopping journeys quicker and more efficient.

Fintan Costello, Head of Primark Ireland and Northern Ireland, said the launch is about making shopping simpler and more convenient for customers.

He said:

“We know our customers expect great value and an effortless shopping experience, wherever they are. Our new app puts exactly that in the palm of their hand, from personalised updates on the latest trends to faster, more convenient ways to browse.

“This is just the next step in bringing everyday value to our shoppers in Northern Ireland in a way that’s simple, seamless and built around their needs.”

The launch reflects changing consumer behaviour, with more shoppers increasingly using digital tools to plan store visits, check stock and track new product drops before arriving in person.

Rollout follows success in Ireland and Italy

Primark said the Northern Ireland and Great Britain rollout follows what it described as a successful launch in the Republic of Ireland and Italy last year.

Matt Houston, Chief Customer & Digital Officer at Primark, said the retailer sees the app as part of a broader shift towards connected shopping.

He said:

“Following the successful launch of our app in ROI and Italy, we’re excited to bring an even smarter, more connected shopping experience to the UK.

“Customers are increasingly turning to digital tools that make shopping easier and more rewarding, and we’re confident that our app will deliver an intuitive, personalised experience that’s been carefully designed to help them get the most out of every Primark visit.”

Growing digital investment behind the scenes

The launch also highlights Primark’s wider digital expansion strategy.

The retailer said it has been steadily increasing investment in its online presence, building on a social media audience of more than 25 million followers globally.

It also revealed that its website continues to see strong growth, with 25% of visitors already using the stock check feature online.

That figure underlines how strongly customers have already been using digital tools to support in-store shopping — likely a key driver behind the decision to expand into a dedicated mobile app.

Rather than moving to a full e-commerce model, Primark’s strategy continues to focus on using digital services to enhance physical shopping trips.

For Northern Ireland customers, that means less uncertainty over whether popular items are available before travelling to store.

What happens next

The app is available to download immediately by searching Primark on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The rollout is expected to strengthen footfall into stores by helping shoppers plan visits more efficiently, particularly around new collection launches and high-demand items.

For local consumers, it effectively puts store stock information, opening hours and product favourites in their pocket for the first time.
