The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed the identity of the woman who died following a two-car collision near Nutts Corner in Crumlin on Sunday afternoon, 11 January.

She has been named as Cathrene Kith Quiñones Singco, who was travelling as a backseat passenger at the time of the collision on the Moira Road.

In a further tragic development, police have confirmed that Cathrene was pregnant and that her unborn baby also died as a result of the collision.

Emergency services attended the scene at around 2pm after a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Skoda Superb were involved in the crash. Cathrene was taken to hospital but sadly died from her injuries.

A man in his 30s, also a passenger in the same vehicle, was critically injured, while several other people sustained minor injuries.

Detective Inspector Stewart, of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We can also confirm that, sadly, Cathrene was pregnant and her baby also died as a result of the collision. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

“We are investigating what happened and require the public’s assistance with our enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any dash-cam footage of the road at the time which could assist with our investigation, please contact us in the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 735 11/01/26.”

The collision has deeply affected the local community, with police once again highlighting the devastating human cost of serious road traffic collisions.

Investigators are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the Moira Road around the time of the crash to come forward.

Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is urged to assist police with their ongoing investigation.
