Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information and witnesses following a reported arson attempt in Ahoghill during the early hours of Monday morning.
Detective Sergeant Erskine said:
“We received a report at around 1.15am this morning, Monday, 11th August, that two petrol bombs had been thrown at a property in the Brookfield Gardens area.
“Officers attended along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, however, there was no sign of any fire or smoke.”
According to police, a man dressed in black was seen approaching the premises carrying a black bag.
“He then threw an object at a window of the property before lighting another item and throwing this towards the same window, followed by a rock,” Detective Sergeant Erskine added.
“A further lighted item was then thrown towards a different, open window of the property before the suspect made off along the Old Portglenone Road, in the direction of Ahoghill.”
No injuries have been reported, but officers have launched a full investigation into the incident.
The PSNI is appealing for anyone with potential evidence — particularly CCTV, dash-cam or other relevant footage — to come forward.
“Our enquiries into this are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation… to contact us on 101, quoting reference 75 of 11/08/25,” Detective Sergeant Erskine said.
Reports can also be submitted online via the non-emergency reporting form at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
